An amazing Craft
Ring making on Bali
One of the many
Crafts someone could possibly stumble upon is the crafting of jewellery. Bali
is a major producer of fashion jewellery and also inspires many current
jewellery designs.
Last week my other fellow students of Germany, Patricia and I tried a ring making workshop in Ulu Watu in Bali and it was an absolutely amazing experience! Of course, we took you with us and I’m about to give you some insights, so each of you might get an idea, what it takes to make jewellery, or in this case a ring.
1. So first you have to choose a ring from the samples the jewellery workshop has to offer.
2. Then you have to melt the silver. It takes a lot of footwork and also be careful not to burn yourself!
3. Then you bring the melted silver into the right shape through pouring it into a mold, cooling it down with water and hammer it to make it smooth.
4. Afterwards the formed piece is passed through a roller to bring it to the right size
5. Subsequently, the ring can be decorated with hammer strokes, signatures or stones and, depending on the model, is shaped or welded together.
6. Finally, the ring is still adjusted to the desired size and ready is the ring to wear!
So for everyone, who gets the chance to try and make a ring in Bali with Silver or Goldsmiths or whatever kind, try it! Make it for yourself, as a gift or as a beautiful memory and amazing experience!
