The TOP 5 CafΓ©s in West Jakarta

If you come into contact with Indonesians, often one of the first questions is: how do you like the food here?

From my own experience, the first thing you notice about the food in Indonesia is that it takes some getting used to. At least from a European point of view. So that you don't have to search Google Maps for restaurant and cafe recommendations on your next trip to Jakarta like we did, I'm going to share my five favorite cafes with you in today's post. Since we live in the west of Jakarta, the following cafes are all located in this region and are perfectly within walking distance.

  1. TiΓ‘n banana η”œ x 13coffee

We discovered this cafΓ© very spontaneously, because we were actually looking for a hearty breakfast and found here the perfect snack for in between.

We tried the fried bananas with cinnamon and chocolate. I can only heartily recommend both varieties. Optional savory toppings include cheese, almonds, dark chocolate and oatmeal, apples and walnuts, and pistachio berries.

The fried banana pieces are relatively large and filling. For two people, a pack of 5 is enough. After all, you want to enjoy the taste and not overeat that you get sick.

Try it out and convince yourself of the sweet delicacy!

   2.   Coffee Dia - Garden House - Tanjung Du

We expected much more from this coffee shop. It was suggested to us all several times on Instagram and looked very cozy. To convince ourselves of the advertising, we tested out the cafe ourselves.

The setting is simple and spacious. Outside there is a garden that offers space for picnics. When we were there, there was a photo shoot going on at the same time, which was no surprise given the setting. The cafe offers you the possibility to borrow a picnic basket, in which you will find something to eat and drink. A blanket and dishes are all included.

I ordered a sandwich with cheese and ham, and a sweet dessert with strawberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I can only advise you to order the two things. You will not regret it!

Here in Jakarta it is not easy to find spots for breakfast. So with the Dia CafΓ© you have a reliable option, that you can visit.

   3.   Kaneel CafΓ©

Kaneel CafΓ© is the best cafΓ© I have visited here in a long time! A vintage Dutch-style cafΓ©. The menu, which combines Dutch-Manadian specialties offers choices for everyone.

Food-wise, it's really good!

We all ordered a sweet breakfast and opted for the "pancake" and were all delighted. It was accompanied by a hearty, crusty garlic bread. 10/10.

There is no doubt about the service. You enter and you are immediately greeted in a very friendly manner. The menu is briefly explained and recommends which dish is ordered most often. The waitress who welcomed us could also speak German very well, which made us feel very at home right away.

Best place and has the best decoration! There is much to see about the land of windmills typical objects, paintings, photographs, posters, records, vases of flowers, and even an old classical piano. For those who like to take photos, there are many photo spots here.

Anyway, I will visit here again next time.

   4.   ONNI House Jakarta

I found this restaurant to be one of the most visually appealing. The cafe was divided into different rooms, which allowed a lot of space to sit. The atmosphere was designed according to the room. Many of the rooms were decorated with real flowers, paintings, vases, as well as photographs of landscapes. The entrance was a perfect photo spot. Here were fake trees with orange, brown autumn look. We were also invited here with locals to shoot a picture or two.

The food was, to the other cafes relatively expensive. The portion size, however, larger, so the price was understandable.

The menu offers many unusual dishes, which are served very nicely prepared on the plate. The selection of dishes is also not 100% Indonesian, but offers room for variety from every day "Nasi Goreng".

  5.    Aming Coffee Tanjung Duren

Is a comfortable place and the service is very courteous, there are many places here to seat groups. One table can seat more than eight people, which is also good for a place to study in a group.

The coffee is delicious and perfect for black coffee lovers. There are many other menu options and price-wise it is more affordable than most coffee houses.

The food offerings are plentiful. There's the typical breakfast of an omelet, sandwich, or baked good. You still always get the rice with most meals.
