An unforgettable experience with Felix Lobrech

There are moments in life that you will never forget—one of these moments happened to us when we were on Lombok, and Lutz was listening to the podcast "Gemischtes Hack." In one episode, Felix Lobrecht, a well-known comedian, author, and podcaster, told us he would present his movie at the Goethe-Institut in Jakarta. After some research, it was clear - we had to go!

 

 The film "Sun and Concrete" by David Wnendt from 2023 is based on Felix Lobrecht's autobiographical novel. The plot is set in Gropiusstadt/Neukölln and revolves around the first-person narrator, Lukas, and his friends, who grow up in a society characterized by poverty and social segregation. The film shows the challenges faced by young people and emphasizes the importance of friendship and solidarity. The film has received several awards, including the Ensemble Award at the German Film Festival 2023 and the Ludwigshafen Film Art Prize.

 

 

The time had finally come. We drove to the Goethe-Institut, registered, and waited anxiously for the event to begin. We briefly saw him standing there - Felix Lobrecht himself. First, we watched the movie, and then there was a Q&A session. Each member of our group asked him a question. About 40 other people were also present.

 

After the event, we went outside and sat down at a table with Felix Lobrecht. We had the chance to talk to him. How crazy is it that you must fly to the other side of the world to experience such an event?

 

This experience was simply unforgettable. Meeting Felix Lobrecht in person, whom we had previously only known from TV or podcasts, and talking to him about his movie and work was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
