Hi everyone, happy to have you back!
We have been with our other two German friends, who are also studying with Patricia and myself here in Jakarta, to the amazing city of Yogyakarta. We had an amazing trip down to the Centre of Java with a train, with witch we could marvel all thouse beautiful rise terasses that passed by us. An absolute recommendation!
Some of you have maybe propably heard of this city. If not then you definetly have seen some of the pictures of the marvelous temples, Yogyakarta is famous for.
Prambanan Temple
If you have the chance to get to Yogyakarta, you absolutley
have to visit the Hindu temples like Prambanan and Borobudur. Here are some
facts for you about the beautiful Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta, we have
vis
ited.
1. The Temple is the biggest Hindu temple in Indonesia thanks
to its position in central Java.
2. Its roots may be traced all the way back to the ninth
century, and it worships the Hindu deities Shiva, Brahama, and Vishnu, known as
the Destroyer, Creator, and Preserver, respectively.
3. The building's architecture is a conventional Hindu
architectural style that, in the Buddhist and Hindu religions, conveys a
spiritually symbolic picture of the cosmos.
4. There are 240 temples total within the complex, including
the 3 Trimurti, 2 Apit and Vahana Temples, 4 Patok and Kelir Temples, and 234
Pervara Temples.
5. The Vahana Temples, also known as "vahanas", are
located in front of the Trimutri Temple and are dedicated to the three gods
Nandi, Hamsa, and Garuda's carriers.
6. The Shiva Temple's center is where the Shiva Shrine is located.
7. There are five chambers in it, and one of them may contain a statue that is three meters tall. On a pedestal, the statue resembles Lord Shiva. You can go and look for the rooms for dedication in the other two Shrines of Brahma and Vishnu.
Borobudur Temple
4. On May 27, 2006, a 6.2 Richter scale earthquake also shook the Borobudur Temple. The Yogyakarta earthquake nearly wrecked the neighborhood, but this Buddhist temple stood firmly in place without even the tiniest movement.
Did you have to pay an entrance fee to visit? If so, how much did it cost?
ReplyDeleteFor the Prambanan Temple there are two prices. One for Tourist and one for Domestic. For the Tourist is the price about 350.000 IDR (22€) and for the Domestic 50.000 IDR (3€). Hope I could help you with thatπ
